PhD Scientific Days 2017

Budapest, 11-12 April 2017

Welcome to the regular spring PhD Scientific Days 2017 Conference, which provides an opportunity for PhD students from each of the seven Doctoral Schools of Semmelweis University to network and present their latest research and clinical findings during the 8 oral and 7 poster sessions.

The primary objective of the conference is that PhD students and candidates should present and discuss their doctoral research in a professional environment. It is expected that participants will benefit from questions and intellectual advice related to their presentations and they will widen and strengthen professional relationships.

From the fall semester 2016 the PhD curricula changed significantly due to a new two staged 4- year- program. Perhaps the major change is the interim qualification exam. The regular spring PhD Scientific Days can have a preparatory role for this exam but the overall role is to monitor the professional development of the PhD students.

Best students from the 8 oral sessions will be selected by a jury and will be awarded a travel fellowship for a conference of choice.

In the frame of the program of the PhD Scientific Days 2017 Conference, professor Béla Merkely, Barna Vásárhelyi and András Kiss, holders of “Excellent PhD Supervisor Award”, have been invited to present their rich and diverse research achievements.

The guest speaker, Attila Patócs in his commemorative lecture will pay tribute to the memories of Professor Károly Rácz, the late President of the Doctoral Council.

The event is open to graduate and postgraduate students, peers, junior and senior faculty members from Semmelweis University and from other universities.

I eagerly look forward to welcoming you at the PhD Scientific Days 2017 Conference and promise you a pleasant and professionally rewarding time.

Dr. József Tímár
President of the Doctoral Council
