The „Healing Hearts Together” program is a psycho-educative group intervention program for couples where one of the partners is living with a heart disease. The program uses an adult attachment based approach, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to support couples adapting to their changing lifestyles, using the power of the relationship enhancement and self-help group. Couples who are in a supportive relationship have been shown to be more motivated and cooperative in the rehabilitation process. This fact led to the adaptation of the HHT group in Hungary in 2018. Now, after two trial groups, we are launching group intervention programs for heart transplant patients and their partners as part of rehabilitation at the Heart and Vascular Surgery Department at Semmelweis University, Budapest. The poster describes the main elements of the program, as well as the theoretical background, the research design and the expected outcomes.
