Text of the abstract

Introduction: Health has been recognized as a core human value since ancient times, as evidenced by early studies on lifestyle and wellbeing. Values play a fundamental role in shaping human behavior, influencing everything from daily decisions to consumption habits and overall lifestyle choices. The negative health outcomes observed among university students are well documented, impacting not only individual well-being but also placing a strain on healthcare systems. In this context, examining the wellbeing, health status, and health behaviors of university students remains a highly relevant research topic.
Objective: This study aims to explore the role of health-related values in shaping students’ attitudes toward health, life satisfaction, overall well-being, and health status.
Method: Data were collected through structured interviews using a 67-item questionnaire, divided into several thematic sections. Validated instruments were employed, including the IRVS Values Importance and Achievement Scale, the WHO Well-Being Index, the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Health Attitudes Questionnaire, along with supplementary questions developed by the research team. A total of 380 participants completed the survey. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05.
Results and Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of emphasizing health as a core value within higher education. Fostering a preventive mindset and creating an inclusive educational environment should be prioritized. Promoting health-conscious lifestyles across all age groups is also essential for long-term societal well-being.
